This year the Global Water Centre is participating in Doors Open Milwaukee when the public can visit and learn more about the Centre’s tenants and the new technologies we are working on.   Although we share the building with well known brands like Badger MeterVeoliaA. O. Smith, and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee some groups are digging  deeper (or more actually, traveling high up!) into the Centre and exploring the offices of the BREW companies, including Iconac.

Increased public awareness of the costs and risks of aging, leaking pipes is a crucial step in the move from reactionary to a proactive water asset management.  Being able to communicated directly with ratepayers about those issues and how our technology can help, has been gratifying and encouraging. Hopefuly we have started some folks down the path of water infrastructure evangelism.

With a view to  WEFTEC in Chicago in week’s time, I tried to use today as a dress rehearsal. Our product, information on the physical status of water mains, is simple enough to explain.  How we get that information however, is somewhat complex.  Finding the right words and images to accurately and honestly convey the basic workings of our technology remains a work in progress, but with today’s experience and feedback, we are much father along towards of goal of crafting a conscience, memorable introduction to Iconac.
